Opyos Beverages is manufacturing small batch spirits, inspired by the local heritage of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Opyos’ unique taste is rooted in the subtly struck balance between native botanicals and ingredients typical to the spirit. The result is an exclusive product line with powerful flavours of local terroir.

Opyos Citrus & Elderflower Gin Liqueur is created by blending freshly pressed grapefruit juice and honey scented elderflower cordial with our classic Dry Gin. Crafted as a one-off batch, Opyos Citrus & Elderflower Gin Liqueur is a balanced combination of our Dry Gin’s unique botanical bouquet with bittersweet citrus notes and highly aromatic fruity floral flavours originating from the local elderflower.

Opyos Navy Strength Gin is created by adding an extra amount of juniper berries to our classic Dry Gin recipe and bottled at a higher proof in order to capture the entire essence of the juniper berry. Crafted in small batches, Opyos Navy Strength Gin combines our unique botanical bouquet with a full-bodied palette of juniper-forward flavours, balanced by hearty notes of pine needles and spicy citrus aromas, while stimulating a crisp warmth.

Opyos Sloe Gin is made by resting a selection of hand-picked sloe berries in a base of our award-winning Opyos Luxembourg Dry Gin for several months.   • Part 5: The Maturation! 
The final touch of this product is the maturing process. After adding the fresh, ruby red sloe juice, we are giving the Sloe Gin another couple of weeks.

The result is a wonderfully balanced palette of flavours, characterised by gentle notes of sweet almond and seductive fruit aromas that come alive in a velvety texture and warm violet colour.

  • Part 4: The Pressing! 
After the maceration, the soaked sloe berries are being pressed carefully so that we can gather the entire flavour, mouthfeel and colour that come from this little inconspicuous berry. 
The outcome is a ruby red concentrated sweet sloe juice with intense cherry aromas and a hint of sweet almonds. The crucial component for the elaborate flavour profile of our 2019 Vintage Sloe Gin!

  • Part 3: The Maceration! 
After being hand-picked one by one, the berries are macerating, together with organic raw cane sugar, in our award-winning Opyos Luxembourg Dry Gin for several months. 
This long period allows the gin to penetrate the berries and extract all the crucial components from the skin, flesh as well as the pit.

  • Part 2: The Harvest! 
Year after year, the harvest of the sloe berries begins between November and December, after the first frost has hit our Luxembourgish hedgerows. That frost reduces the bitterness of the sloe berries and makes them at least a bit more palatable. 
This artisanal activity in the pastures of our rural environment is characterised, - like most of our harvesting activities -, by humid and cold weather conditions but must importantly by friendship and fun.

Part 1: The Sloe Berries!

Sloes can be found all over Luxembourg. This thorny hedge is domiciled along many paths, forests and meadows. The fruits are dark blue and extremely bitter. After the first frost, they become ever so slightly edible, so this is the right moment for us to harvest them. It helps our gin to get a strongly aromatic, slight bitterness that plays an important role in its overall character, together with subtle aromas of cherry and a sweet almond touch.
